Medical Receptionist: Part-Time

Hours: 3 Days per week, negotiable
Location: 590 Searls Avenue, Suite A, Nevada City, CA 95959
Pay: $18-22 hourly rate range; varies depending upon experience

Sierra Family Health Center (SFHC) is seeking a Medical Receptionist with excellent customer service communication and organizational skills who values being part of a team committed to helping others. Medical Receptionist creates a positive first impression to patients and must communicate effectively with the SFHC team of providers and staff.

SFHC is a rural community health center and leader in integrated health providing full-service medical care to area residents for more than 40 years. As a Federally Qualified Rural Health Clinic (FQHC), we provide compassionate and quality medical, dental, chiropractic, and behavioral health care to meet the needs of our culturally diverse community, including the indigent and medically underserved populations of Nevada and Yuba counties.

Essential Job Functions

  • Greets patients professionally both in person and on the phone
  • Checks in patients, collecting copays or deposits at the time of service
  • Answers or properly refers questions and issues
  • Schedules patients in electronic system; calls patients with appointment reminders; keeps the schedule full by maintaining wait lists and moving patients when appropriate
  • Able to effectively communicate with patients & staff from diverse backgrounds
  • Maintain professional behavior towards patients, visitors and staff members

Essential Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • One-year customer service and/or medical front office ideal
  • Basic office skills, basic computer skills, appointment scheduling, data entry & cashiering
  • Electronic Health Records (EHR) experience preferred
  • Willingness to be trained and assist others
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written
